Quote: „Unfortunately, the situation in the power system remains difficult. From 16:00, following the instructions of Ukrenergo, stabilisation outage schedules will be applied again,“ the statement said.

Details: At the same time, DTEK Kyiv Electricity Grids stressed that stabilisation blackouts in accordance with the electricity consumption limits set by Ukrenergo will be in effect from 16:00 to 00:00.

„The situation in the power system is extremely difficult, and a significant shortage of electricity is observed. Therefore, after 00:00 to 09:00 on 17 May, power outages may be extended,“ the company explained.

Background:

Ukraine lacks the power generation capacities and electricity imports to cover consumption, and rolling blackouts were introduced in some oblasts this morning, 16 May.
Consumer outages that began on 14 May may last until August-September. There will be a shortage in the power system in winter, even at high temperatures, said Yurii Boiko, the adviser to the Prime Minister of Ukraine and a member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo.
