Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, states that at this stage there is no point in dialogue with Russian ruler Vladimir Putin as the latter does not want a diplomatic end to the war unleashed against Ukraine.
Source: Zelenskyy as a press conference on 27 August
Quote: „As of today not just compromise but dialogue in general with Putin…is empty, pointless. He does not want to end the war in a diplomatic way. He seems to be ready from a diplomatic standpoint but [he wants Ukraine – ed.] to concede 30% of our land.
I think we should not play along.“
Details: Zelenskyy added that the operation in Russia’s Kursk Oblast „helped Ukraine a lot“ to decrease active discussions around this topic.
Background: Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for Russian leader Vladimir Putin, stated that negotiations with Ukraine „lost their relevance“.
